Q & A # 1 For Calgary Chiropractor Treatments

Is it good to get adjusted by a chiropractor?

Chiropractor treatment most involves the use of spinal adjustment. A targeted and specific spinal adjustment from chiropractor services can significantly reduce your back and neck pain, it is a non-invasive treatment. Chiropractic treatment is also cheaper when compared with other forms of back pain management therapies. This will save you medical costs when dealing with chronic pain or acute onset of pain.

How much do chiropractors cost?

This varies with different offices and clinics, as some can cost anywhere from $30 to $100 per appointment. The average fee to see a chiropractor is close to $65 per visit. Some treatments can be added on top of the chiropractic treatments including acupuncture, physiotherapy, and massage therapy in conjunction to help facilitate maximal healing. To keep in mind, chiropractors recommend patients to periodically return for repeat appointments after the initial care has finished helping maintain optimal physical health and this is often referred to as maintenance care. At NW Chiropractor clinic - Precision Performance & Wellness - Calgary chiropractor, we charge $65 for chiropractic treatments for any subsequent care.

Does chiropractic hurt?

There is little to no pain when receiving chiropractic adjustment here at NW Calgary chiropractor clinic - Precision Performance & Wellness - Calgary Chiropractor. When receiving chiropractic treatment, you may feel popping sounds that resemble pressure being released from joints ( like opening a can of pop and gas being released from the can), and you should not feel any intense pain. Usually, when you don't present with any spine pain prior to receiving chiropractic treatment, you should not feel pain after. Some chiropractic patients do experience some mild soreness or minor aches in their muscles after a visit especially if the region that has been worked on has not been moving well for the past few months due to sedentary or after surgery recovery associated with muscle atrophy and avascular in the muscles.

What are the risks of going to a chiropractor?

Another way to address this is, are chiropractic treatments safe? It is good to remember that any therapeutic treatment from medication to manual therapy comes with potential risks. To give an example, in the pharmaceutical industry, there is a concept known as risk-benefit analysis which is to assess how much benefit a medication has compared with potential risk underlying. The more dangerous/riskier medication is, the less likely it will become mainstream for public accessibility.

Spinal adjustments which is a therapeutic technique performed by a chiropractor is recommended for patients suffering from spinal joint-related pain. When assessing risk-benefit from overall physical health and history taking, chiropractors will take a close look at it from a whole picture before recommending spinal adjustment.

Adverse reactions lasting less than 24 hours can include headaches, stiffness, fatigue, local pain, sharp sensations, nausea, hot skin/flushing, and fainting. However, not all these reaction occurrence rate are not equal and giving out exact numbers are difficult due to variables in studying in a research setting. Overall chiropractic treatment is a safe option for the prevention of pain, and managing musculoskeletal problems and other associated neurological systems. Chiropractors at Precision performance & Wellness has met the standard of completing more than 4200 hours of competency training in the musculoskeletal system as outlined in core certification. We use the best judgment for our patients and make the best-recommended care for our Calgary community.
